The vision
EACD is a pioneer entity for the development of Egyptians in deprived communities, in order to enable them to enjoy their rights in the framework of active citizenship and social peace
The mission
The Egyptian Association for Comprehensive Development (EACD) is a non-governmental organization that seeks to develop the capacity of individuals most in need, particularly women, children and youngsters in rural communities and slums. EACD implements its development programs from the perspective of the people's rights in the fields of education, economics, health and environment, within the framework of citizenship, effective participation, respect of human rights and the participation of all parties concerned.
Target Groups: EACD give attention to three target groups in the development process:
Women
Women and Women’s rights are a major concern of EACD. In all of its programs, the Association grants a distinctive place to women, giving them opportunities to express themselves and to represent their communities. By investing in their skills and capabilities and by empowering them, EACD believes that it can effectively boost the entire development process and through the formation of feminine leadership, EACD aims to promote women's empowerment and engagement in social development, so they could play a positive and effective role in society.
Children
Children represent the next generation and are the hope for a better future. By caring for them we care for the future. Unfortunately, the situation of Egypt's children is alarming. Poverty is still affecting 40 percent of families and thousands of children are born in poverty. Already at young age many of them suffer from malnutrition and subsequently suffer from lifelong health problems. Poverty forces children to look for work and drop out of school. In the rural areas of Egypt, many adolescent girls are discouraged from completing school and are forced into a too early marriage.
Youth
The EACD is one of the few associations in Egypt concerned with youth volunteers. Youth represents almost half of the Egyptian population and therefore could play a great role in Egypt’s global development. We believe that their energy is crucial in our work in the poor areas of Egypt. The EACD utilizes their abilities in several activities, such as educational programs, international youth camps, conferences and social and cultural meetings. We also participate in several international exchange programs.
EACD’s Institutional Values
EACD works in the framework of a set of institutional values. EACD and all people working in it are committed to implementing these values towards all the entities that it works with, and these are:
